Electronic Filing
Electronic Archiving
SJDGGE (Sumatra Journal of Disaster, Geography and Geography Education) is committed to ensuring that every published article is securely stored and remains permanently accessible to readers, researchers, and the general public. This policy outlines how the journal stores and preserves its published content, as well as how authors may archive their work in other repositories.
Journal Archiving and Digital Preservation
All articles published in SJDGGE (Sumatra Journal of Disaster, Geography and Geography Education) are stored electronically and preserved through the following layers of storage:
- Journal Website. All issues and articles, from the first volume to the most recent edition, are available in full text on the journal’s "Archives" page. The journal is managed using Open Journal Systems (OJS), with its server maintained by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia.
- PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). Journal content is preserved via the PKP Preservation Network—a LOCKSS-based system that stores copies of content across a distributed network of archives. Should the journal cease publication or its website become unavailable, the published content will remain accessible.
- Digital Object Identifier (DOI). Every article is assigned a DOI via Crossref. A DOI provides a permanent identifier and a stable link, ensuring that the article remains discoverable even if its web address changes.
- Indexing and National Repositories. Article metadata and full-text content are also available through indexing and search services, such as Garuda, Google Scholar, and other indexing platforms.
- Internal Backups. The journal server is backed up regularly, allowing for the recovery of articles, metadata, and editorial records in the event of technical issues.
Author Self-Archiving Policy
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, and authors retain the copyright to their work. Consequently, authors may archive their articles in other repositories without requiring permission from the journal and without any embargo period.
Authors may archive their articles in various locations, such as:
- Institutional repositories (e.g., the author’s affiliated institution).
- National repositories (e.g., Garuda or the Universitas Negeri Padang repository).
- Subject-specific (disciplinary) repositories.
- Academic profiles (e.g., Google Scholar, SINTA, ORCID, ResearchGate, or Academia.edu).
- Personal or institutional websites.
When archiving an article, authors are required to:
- Provide a citation for the original publication in SJDGGE (Sumatra Journal of Disaster, Geography and Geography Education), including the volume, issue number, year, and page range.
- Include the article’s DOI link.
- State that the article is licensed under CC BY 4.0.
For preprints that are subsequently accepted for publication, authors are encouraged to update the entry in the repository by adding a link to the published version.
Archiving and Record-Keeping
The journal maintains electronic records of the editorial and peer-review processes, including submitted manuscripts, review reports, correspondence, and editorial decisions. These records support accountability and enable the journal to address inquiries or issues that may arise after publication. All such records are kept confidential and are not made public.
